Edinburgh – Inspace Building

On a visit to the Edinburgh festival while running from venue to venue I was caught by the University of Edinburgh, School of Informatics – Inspace building.

The architects, Bennetts Associates modern design uses clean simple, geometric lines paired with traditional materials in a contemporary finish.

Unusually fringed along the buildings roof line a simplistic use of grasses creates softness and movement to add dynamism to the otherwise static scheme.

The vertical flower stems of the grass appear to be that of Calamagrostis x acutiflora ‘Karl Foerster’ a designer favorite for its upright habit and ability to bend and move with the elements bouncing back to it’s original erect form.
